PET sorting facilities separate plastic waste according to their types and colors, ensuring that clean and high-quality recycled material is obtained. These facilities reduce the harm of plastic waste to nature and contribute to reducing the need for raw materials.
PET SORTING CONSISTS OF 4 MAIN STEPS
- Collection and transportation: Plastic waste (usually PET bottles) is collected from various sources and transported to the facility for processing.
- Sorting and pre-cleaning: Collected waste is separated according to color, density, and type. At this stage, foreign materials (lid, label, metal parts) and dirt are also cleaned.
- Shredding and washing: Separated PET waste is turned into small pieces. Where the shredded PET is washed with hot water and various cleaning solutions to remove sticky residues, oils, and other dirt.
- Drying and Storing: Cleaned and separated PET pieces are dried, and then packaged into big bags.
